Training
Training at The Thought Co.
At The Thought Co., we believe that being a good psychologist requires more than a degree — it requires guidance, context, and hands-on experience. Our training programs are designed by practicing psychologists and led by Zena Yarde, our Senior Psychologist and Supervisor. These offerings aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-life therapeutic work, with a strong emphasis on culturally grounded practice in the Indian context.
Why Our Training Is Different
While academic degrees provide essential theoretical knowledge, our training programs go further — helping you understand how those theories actually unfold in therapy sessions. We offer practical, therapist-led modules that cover:
- Client work through a culturally sensitive lens
- Real-world applications of CBT, REBT, and relational models
- Therapeutic boundaries, ethics, and emotional regulation
- Case reflections, countertransference, and supervision support
Our goal is to help psychologists move from textbook learners to confident, grounded practitioners.
Culturally Rooted, India-Specific Approach
Most psychological training is shaped by Western frameworks — but the therapeutic space in India carries different social, cultural, and relational contexts. We believe it’s essential to adapt theory to suit the Indian psyche and lived experiences.
Our programs reflect:
- Family and community-based dynamics
- Language, caste, class, and religious influences
- Urban-rural mental health realities
- Societal expectations and cultural identity
We don’t just teach theory — we help you interpret and apply it in a way that honours the cultural landscape we work in.
Who This Is For
- Psychology students and recent graduates
- Early-career therapists seeking mentorship
- Interns looking to move beyond observation-based roles
- Mental health professionals wanting a culturally grounded clinical approach
Our training spaces are reflective, honest, and supportive — made for those who value ethical, evolving, client-centered practice.
